Godchosen Monastery - The choir of St.-Petersburg residence of Valaam monastery exists since 1990, when the church in the name of Kazan icon of Theotokos in Narvsky prospekt was opened. Michael Rusanov is the choir regent since 1993. The choir consists of graduates of choral school, students and graduates of St.-Petersburg conservatoire and amateur singers. In the present album starts with favoured by brothers and pilgrims hymn to Valaam monastery, which was usually sung when visiting hermit ages and chapels of the island. TMs composition, created in 90-th of the XIX century by monk Peter Mikhailov is the gift of loving heart to his native monastery inhabitants were forced to leave the island the abbat Hariton (Dunaev) expanded this hymn by 20 more stanzas. One can hear bitterness of parting witi Valaam and hope to see the monastery again in its former glory.
